Supported Education

About Our Supported Education Program

The Supported Education Program empowers our residents to pursue their educational goals and increases their marketability for future employment.

To be eligible for this particular program, an individual must be a resident/client at ClearView Communities. The only prerequisite for participation is the individual’s desire to go to school. The individual’s goals are central to the process. Supported Education can be beneficial if an individual wishes to pursue a degree or further their knowledge/skills in a particular field.

Achieving Positive Outcomes

Individuals are encouraged to participate and take a leadership role in the process. Positive outcomes are achieved through a close relationship between the individual served and the Community Integration (CI) Team. This relationship allows for the development of self-efficacy skills and the identification of appropriate support needs. Services are person centered and utilize, whenever possible, school-based supports in community education settings to assess the individual’s skill level or to provide accommodations to the student.

The Supported Education placement process will guide individuals through an assessment of interests, skills, and experience to help them choose a placement that will meet their educational goals. Before a placement is made, the individual will work with the Community Integration Team to identify any financial aid needs and complete all necessary processes to aid in their ability to pay for their education. The individual will also set up a tour/orientation to the school in which he/she wishes to enroll and decide if the placement will work. If it is decided this is a good placement, the individual will work with the team to register for classes and set up accommodations, if needed. The CI team, along with Staff, will assist as needed throughout the education experience.

As with all steps in this process, residents have the option to complete all or some of these steps independently or with staff support.

Our residents have the capacity to make positive changes in their lives.
